Johnathon World Peace Bush and Jilamara Crew Travel for Sydney Contemporary at Carriageworks!

Johnathon Bush, Patrick Freddy Puruntatameri and Jilamara Coordinator Will Heathcote travelled to Sydney for the Sydney Contemporary Art Fair this September. This was Johnathon’s first major showing with his new gallery THIS IS NO FANTASY and it was great to be there to meet all the gallery staff and amazing fellow gallery artist, Vincent Naminjira of Iwantja Arts in the APY Lands. It was a great trip and we are all looking forward to the many great things Johnathon has on the horizon in the rest of 2022 and into next year!

Jilamara Arts is a remote Indigenous art centre in Milikapiti, Tiwi Islands. We are Aboriginal owned and we produce authentic Tiwi art – ironwood carved birds and Tutini poles, ochre paintings on bark, canvas, linen and paper, original limited edition prints and hand screenprinted textiles.

This artwork embodies the collective knowledge of the Tiwi people. It was created by and with the consent of the custodians of this knowledge. The intellectual and cultural property of this work belongs to the artist, the Tiwi people and their ancestors, through long standing living cultural practice.
