Pius’ etching shows the pukumani (funeral ceremony) jilamara (design) that is painted on tutini or burial pole. These designs are also painted on the body. Different clans in different areas come together for the mourning ceremony, some sit in some areas; others sit in other areas. The ceremony goes for two days. This is a hard ground etching with chine colle, made by the artist in collaboration with Masterprinter Basil Hall during a print workshop at Jilamara in April 2017.
