In this exhibition, Turtiyanginari amintiya Purrungbarri – Ochre and Stringybark, Conrad Tipungwuti brings his unique combination of gestural jilamara (painting design in ochres) to both linen paintings and for the first time a significant collection of purrungbarri (flat stringybark). His work celebrates his life-long engagement with culture and ceremony on the islands, while foregrounding the innovation at the heart of Tiwi art making.
