Congratulations Michelle Pulatuwayu Woody Minnapinni, the recipient of this year’s NIFA Traditional Adornment Award, supported by Desart.

A proud Tiwi artist from Jilamara Arts and Crafts Association based on Wulirankuwu, Michelle Pulatuwayu Woody Minnapinni creates traditional tunga (bark baskets) and parmijini (ceremonial headbands and armbands) using knowledge and techniques passed down through countless generations.

Her collaborative practice brings together collecting materials on Country, making and ceremony, keeping Tiwi cultural knowledge, stories and traditions alive while passing them on to future generations.
