Nginingawula Awirankiniwaki is a collaborative exhibition by artists across Melville Island Art Centres – Jilamara Arts and Crafts Association, Munupi Aboriginal Arts and Crafts Association and Ngaruwanajirri Incorporated.
The art of the Tiwi people has a unique aesthetic. It draws from ancient ceremonial traditions and associated intricate and expressive designs painted with local ochres. These are applied to the body during ceremonial dance and salient ceremonial carvings.
