Cabrini Wilson
Cabrini was born at the old hospital in Milikapiti, she lived much of her early life at Paru where she remembers observing her aunty Kitty Kantilla Kutuwulumi Purawarrumpatu carving figures out of ironwood. Cabrini worked at Jilamara in its early days as an adult education centre, and learned how to make batik, tie dye, and to sew fabric garments. Cabrini started painting in 2000, learning from Kitty Kantilla and developing her own unique Jilamara (design). Cabrini is now a consistent artist at Jilamara and works on bark and canvas and is also part of the screen-printing team in the Nancy Henry Ripijingimpi Textile Studio. Cabrini is passionate about painting at Jilamara so that she can pass on Tiwi stories and designs for the next generation.
