Kiriwurrin arijilani (Hermit Crab)

The artist has applied pwoja comb to show the thousands of tracks and sand markings that the arijilani burrows create at each low tide. Reflecting a landscape in both material and form, this work foregrounds a style of markmaking that is traditionally reserved for ceremonial body painting to describe the character of country
