Congratulations Pedro Wonaeamirri, WINNER at the NATSIA Awards!

Congratulations Pedro Wonaeamirri for being awarded the Multimedia category Award at the 2021 Telstra NATSIA Awards!! After being a finalist seven times everyone at Jilamara is so happy you have recieved this award for such a beautiful work. Although Pedro’s live performance set for the opening celebrations was cancelled due to COVID-19, Pedro performed for the judges and anyone can see a film of his performance on country alongside the ceremonial objects he carried and wore in the Museum and Art Gallery of the NT on public display unitl FEB 2022! Pedro danced at the opening of the Museum 40 years ago as a seven year old in 1981! On that day Micky Geranium gave him the Tide Dance. Forty years later as an established artists he can show the public how connected song and dance are to the artwork he makes.
