Having recently joined Jilamara Art Centre, Wendy was first drawn to painting in order to follow in her grandfather’s footsteps. He was an artist and use to carve as well. Wendy’s aunty Mary Moreen is also a member at Jilamara and is a traditional owner of Wulirankuwu – the country upon which Jilamara is built. Aunty Mary is a strong culture woman who leads through Tiwi culture and Wendy is looking forward to using her art-making as a platform for celebrating these stories.
