Conrad Tipungwuti
Conrad Tipungwuti has been painting and creating limited–edition prints at Jilamara Arts since 1999. He is best known for depicting the pakatiringa / monsoonal rain and the kulama / yam and coming-of-age ceremony. He represents kulama with large concentric circles that refer to the yams prepared during the ceremony and the rings that appear around the moon late in the wet season. Japara, the moonman, is another theme that he regularly depicts.
Tipungwuti has worked alongside fellow-artist, Timothy Cook as part of Ngawa mantawi – All of us together program at Jilamara Arts and Crafts. This program supports artists with diverse needs to have successful careers in the arts while remaining on Country close to family.
