Bruce’s family originally comes from Croker Island, although he was born in Milikapiti on the Tiwi Islands.  Before coming to work at Jilamara he was employed by CDP (Community Development) doing various jobs around the community. 

Bruce likes to paint sometimes with help from his wife Colleen Freddy who is a long-time staff member and artist at Jilamara. Tiwi culture was very important to Bruce and he was recognized as a great dancer. Bruce passed away in 2018, but his wife, children and grandchildren continue to be dedicated members of the art centre.
