Jonathan “Jon Jon World Peace’ Bush moves amongst different cultures. His Mum is from the Tiwi Islands, his Dad is from Borroloola. Jon Jon shifts between his indigenous cultural backgrounds and the ever imposing ideals and beliefs of the white man’s culture.

His painting Spear Dance displays a dense background of jilamara (design), which is also depicted on the body of the figure. During ceremonies the Tiwi paint their bodies to disguise their identities from evil spirits of the afterlife.
